Sunday, September 8, 2024 marks the 16th annual Remembering James Clay event at Arts Fifth Avenue in Fort Worth. James Earl Clay was a hard bop tenor saxophonist from Dallas, Texas whose music earned him the nickname “Heavy”. He was a huge influence on all who were privileged to have known him or work alongside this extraordinarily gifted artist. Area jazz musicians pay homage to James Clay at this event every year.
