November 7, 2021 marks the birhday anniversary of bassist Lewis James Worrell of Charlotte, North Carolina. He is 87 years old. Mr. Worrell played and recorded with Hank Crawford, the New York Art Quartet, Albert Ayler, Archie Shepp, Roswell Rudd, Robin Kenyatta and Sam Rivers. Worrell has been described as a "unique voice on the bass".
